At the meeting of the OSCE Forum for Security Co-operation (FSC) on September 8, 2021, the Secretary General of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs presented the priorities of the Austrian FSC Chairmanship, including arms control, modern security risks and challenges, control of the proliferation of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and stockpiles of conventional ammunition (SCA).

Welcoming the emphasis of the Austrian FSC Chairmanship on the traditional agenda of the Forum, Permanent Representative of Belarus to the OSCE Andrei Dapkiunas stressed that conventional arms control continues to remain the linchpin of the European security architecture.

The head of the Belarus Mission to the OSCE noted that Belarus looks forward to a constructive discussion on security risks and challenges, in which a representative of the Defense Ministry of Belarus will take part as a speaker, and is interested in the exchange of views by military experts on military doctrines.

A. Dapkiunas drew attention to the fact that direct military contacts are an important component of reducing tension and restoring confidence in the common European space. The Belarusian diplomat said that based on the accumulated national experience Belarus is ready to contribute to the successful conduct of the OSCE Meeting to review the implementation of assistance projects on SALW and SCA.
