Statement on Minsk Summit in “Normandy” format at the OSCE Permanent Council (12 February 2015)

17.02.2015

Mr. Chairperson,

We also welcome the agreements reached in Minsk on 11 and 12 February following the negotiations by the Heads of State of Germany, Russia, France and Ukraine on a peaceful settlement of the situation in Ukraine, and trust that they will contribute to an effective ceasefire and to the building of peace in Ukraine.

As the President of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Alexander Lukashenko, emphasized, “The main issue is still ahead. All the agreements must actually be implemented”.

The OSCE, with the support of the Trilateral Contact Group, has a key role to play in the implementation of the Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements.

Belarus is willing to continue to create all the necessary conditions as part of the process of achieving a peaceful settlement in Ukraine.

Thank you, Mr. Chairperson.
