On the Participation of a Belarusian Amateur Artistic Group in a Folklore Festival in Slovakia

The major folklore festival “Pod Kráľovou hoľou” is taking place in Liptovská Teplička, Slovakia, on 25–26 July.

At the invitation of the festival organizers, this year's event features the Horliсa Folk Song Ensemble of the Belarusian State Economic University, led by Sviatlana Karchenia. The Belarusian amateur artistic group has been accorded the honour of opening the festival and performing first.

The Horliсa Ensemble is a laureate of numerous international festivals and competitions held in Russia, Germany, Poland and France. Its extensive repertoire includes Belarusian folk songs and dances, authentic folklore from various regions of Belarus, as well as original compositions.

The visit to Slovakia and the ensemble’s participation in the festival became a joint initiative of Belarusian partners in the Spišská Nová Ves region, the Belarusian State Economic University and the Embassy of Belarus. It is another result of the fruitful cultural cooperation developing between the two countries, which has already produced a number of successful joint projects.

Belarusian diplomats attended the festival, held meetings with regional authorities and expressed their support for the artistic ensemble.

The audience welcomed the gifts from Horliсa with special enthusiasm and gratitude: two Slovak songs performed by Belarusian musicians.
