On the participation of the delegation of Belarus in the 12th session of the Conference of the Member States of the UN Convention against transnational organized crime
21.10.2024The 12th session of the Conference of the Countries Participating in the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime is being held in Vienna on October 14-18 this year.
Belarus is represented at the session by a delegation headed by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to International organizations in Vienna. The delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Belarus to International Organizations in Vienna.
In the general discussion at the session, the head of the Main Directorate for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus A. Silvestrovich made a statement.
In the statement, A. Silvestrovich drew the attention of the session participants to the problem of intensification of international criminal activity against the background of serious geopolitical changes in the world — an increase in the number of conflicts, an increase in migration flows and illegal unilateral restrictive measures, which creates an additional threat to peace, stability and security.
A. Silvestrovich expressed interest in practical non-politicized cooperation with law enforcement agencies of other states in combating cybercrime, human trafficking and illegal migration, smuggling of weapons and drugs, terrorist and extremist activities, as well as the readiness of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus to share practical experience in combating international organized crime.
A. Silvestrovich called for the joining of the efforts of law enforcement agencies of all States and cooperation of states within the framework of regional and universal international organizations in the fight against transnational organized crime.
To intensify the international dialogue, the Belarusian representative invited all interested parties to participate in international thematic conferences in Minsk: The Second International Conference on Ensuring Eurasian Security (October 31 – November 1, 2024) and Measures taken in the Republic of Belarus to combat illegal migration and best practices in promoting regional cooperation in solving this problem (November 15, 2024).
