On the statements of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik at the session of the UNIDO General Conference

On November 30, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik, as the head of Belarusian delegation, delivered the statements at the plenary sessions of the 19th session of the General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), that is held these days at the Vienna International Center in Austria.

In his speeches S. Aleinik emphasized the importance of the organisation’s effective activities and efforts for inclusive and sustainable industrial development of the countries worldwide, including assistance in fast recovery of industry after the pandemic on a more environment-friendly and technological basis.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus particularly welcomed the efforts of the organisation in the sphere of circular economy, ecology and energy, the use of digitalization to accelerate the transition to more efficient models of industrial production, as well as the intent to address the interests and needs of different categories of its Member States, especially Middle-Income Countries.

The head of delegation also congratulated Gerd Muller on his appointment as the new head of UNIDO and assured Belarus’ readiness to continue active interaction and cooperation in all areas of the organization’s activities.

In addition, S.Aleinik held a meeting with the new Director General of UNIDO, and discussed the ongoing and future projects of technical cooperation of UNIDO in Belarus.
