Participation of the delegation of Belarus in the session of the Conference of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs
16.03.2024On March 14-22, 2024 the 67th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs takes place.
The delegation of Belarus is headed by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to International Organizations in Vienna. The delegation includes representatives of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Belarus and the permanent representative.
Within the framework of the general debates at the session of the Commission, Head of the Main Department for Drug Control and Combating Human Trafficking of the Ministry of Interior of Belarus A. Silvestrovich made a statement.
In his speech, A. Silvestrovich drew the attention of participants to the to the work of Belarus in combating drug trafficking and to the need for strict compliance with the provisions of the UN anti-drug. He expressed Belarus' readiness to share information and practical experience with other countries and called for non-politicized cooperation in the fight against drug crime.
A. Silvestrovich condemned illegal unilateral restrictive measures that hinder international cooperation and contradict the UN Charter and international legal obligations of states jeopardizing the implementation of a substitution therapy program for the rehabilitation of drug addicts.
The Belarusian delegation called on the countries that are still using such measures to return to the legal track and, in accordance with their international legal obligations, to abandon the use of such restrictive measures.
