Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Aleinik meets with Deputy Director General of the IAEA Hua Liu

On November 30, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik met with the IAEA Deputy Director General, Director of the Department of Technical Cooperation Hua Liu.

During the meeting the interlocutors agreed that the IAEA technical cooperation program is an effective mechanism for the dissemination of best practices, providing technical and expert support and other assistance to the countries in their peaceful uses of nuclear technologies. S.Aleinik and Hua Liu noted with satisfaction that Belarus is an active participant of this program. The Deputy Minister, in particular, thanked the IAEA for its support in strengthening the capacity of the country's medical institutions in responding to the pandemic and in the fight against cancer.

Hua Liu assured that the IAEA will continue to support Belarus in strengthening its nuclear and radiation safety regime, including in the context of the completion of construction and commissioning of the Belarusian nuclear power plant.

It was also reached an agreement on signing between Belarus and the IAEA in the nearest future the Cooperation Programme Framework (CPF) for 2022 – 2027.
